Alan Willard Raabe

September 22, 1934 - September 22, 1996

Alan W. Raabe was the third child of five born to Harry and Hannah (Warnes) Raabe on September 22, 1934. Alan attended school in Volga, Beresford and Brookings, SD. Following his education, Alan lived with and worked for the Bortnem family. He was united in marriage to Patricia McMillan on May 29, 1959 in Pipestone, MN. After marriage, the couple moved to Gillette, Wyoming and then returned to Brookings in 1960. Alan was then employed by Dale's Alignment and then Prunty Construction. From 1966 to 1986 he was employed by Sheesley Plumbing and Heating. Alan and Patsy had three sons, Bradley, Brian, and Timothy who were all raised in Brookings. In 1986 he started working for the Physical Plant at South Dakota State University. His wife Patricia died on January 1, 1995.

Alan was a member of the First Lutheran Church and enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and tinkering in his barn.

(Survivors at the time of passing): Alan is survived by his three sons, one grandson, three brothers: Harold, Robert, and David, and one sister, Phyllis. He also had special friends Lisa Steenson, Lisa Syrstad, and Tami Thie.

Alan was preceded in death by his parent, his wife, and one sister, Harriet.
