Harry was born in Pope County, Minnesota in on October 3, 1892.He homesteaded in Corson County, South Dakota, in 1912 and served in the US Army during WWI. After that, he returned to his homestead. He met Elsie Melicher (1901) after she and her brother and mother moved to Corson County in 1914. They married in 1922. They moved to a farm two miles north and three miles east of White, SD in 1939 and in 1958, they moved into town. They were very active in the American Legion and Auxiliary along with other community activities. They then moved to the White Care Center.

Harry and Elsie had five children: Irene, Mary, Rosemary, Joan, and William.

Co L 69th Infantry

The 69th Infantry Regiment was a United States Regular Army (United States) infantry regiment that never saw combat.

The regiment was constituted 9 July 1918 in the Regular Army as the 69th Infantry and assigned to the 10th Infantry Division; Organized 10 August 1918 at Camp Funston, Kansas from personnel of the 41st Infantry. Relieved from the 10th Division and demobilized 13 February 1919 at Camp Funston.
