Herman Kracke

When Herman Henry Kracke was born on January 8, 1896, in Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany, his father, Jurgen, was 31 and his mother, Anne, was 27. When he was 9 years old (in 1905), his family (by this time he had 6 siblings -1 brother and 5 sisters) emigrated to the United States on their way to Brookings County in South Dakota. Once they arrived, they became a family of farmers.

He married Marie Helena Steinback on February 28, 1923, in Brookings, South Dakota. They had two children during their marriage. He died on January 15, 1960, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 64.

Co M 69th Infantry

World War I

The 69th Infantry Regiment was a United States Regular Army (United States) infantry regiment that never saw combat.

The regiment was constituted 9 July 1918 in the Regular Army as the 69th Infantry and assigned to the 10th Infantry Division; Organized 10 August 1918 at Camp Funston, Kansas from personnel of the 41st Infantry. Relieved from the 10th Division and demobilized 13 February 1919 at Camp Funston.
