From letters transcribed during Delbert Robbins' time in the Navy during the Korean war, Jim and Scoot were affectionately known as the 'Rough Necks' by Willis, Laura, and Darlene Robbins. They would come down to Willis' and tell stories about what was happening in Bushnell or in school, play cards, and even bribe Darlene into helping them with school work. They were also known to smoke a cigarette or two.
