Civil War
Internment: Fairview Cemetery of White, South Dakota
Warren Fuller Williams was born on December 13, 1839, in Salem, Connecticut, his father, Julius, was 23 and his mother, Sarah (Griffin), was 22. Warren was the oldest of three children, Sarah (1841) and Elizabeth (1844) all of whom were born in Connecticut. By 1860, Warren and his family had moved from Connecticut to Wisconson.
Warren joined the 14th Wisconsin Infantry in September 1861 and served in the battles of Shiloh, Kenesaw Mountain, Corinth, and the siege of Atlanta. He was discharged in November 1865 as a Private. He then re-enlisted and served four more years.
He married Almeda Adelia West (1848) on March 30, 1867, in Lind, Wisconsin. In 1878 they loaded up their five children Fred, Kate, Lois, Edith and Seth, along with his parents, and they moved to Brookings, Dakota Territory. Warren and Almeda had four more children, Ebbert (only lived a few months), Warren Elmer (died same day), Grace (died same day) and Grace Marian after they had settled in Dakota Territory. Almeda died two years after Grace Marian was born on June 28, 1885 (she was one of the first buried in Fairview Cemetery). Sadly, Warren also outlived two other children, Grace Marian died at the age of 26 (1909), and Lois died at the age of 41 (1913). He died on June 3, 1917, in Brookings, South Dakota, having lived a long life of 77 years, and was buried alongside his wife, Almeda, in Fairview Cemetery.
